Preserved Through PROTECTION

Heritage Protection Group is an international collaborative of engineers and consultants that specialize in the fire protection of Cultural Heritage Properties - Museums, Historic Structures and Sites, Libraries and Archives.  We are guided by the principal that literature, arts, architecture are a part of our human collective history and that contain the knowledge of centuries of discovery.  While many items present elements of our past, others may house information that may one day serve to advance contemporary innovation.

We are also acutely aware that many of humankind’s cultural objects have been destroyed by fire and that these items and knowledge contained within are no longer available.  Unfortunately, as demonstrated in the 2019 fire that engulfed Paris’ Cathedral of Notre Dame, our heritage continues to be threatened as we lose important structures and their contents.  These loses are not inevitable and through solid risk reduction and engineering can be avoided or significantly diminished.  Proper fire protection is preservation.

At Heritage Protection Group we know that hold the responsibility for safeguarding of our cultural heritage, for present and future generations.  We take this responsibility seriously providing professional consulting and engineering services to prevent the loss of heritage from fire’s devastating forces.

Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite National Park

In Yosemite National Park’s Ahwahnee Hotel, we were commissioned to design an aesthetically sensitive fire sprinkler system throughout the historic hotel.  This fire protection system has to be technically able to control a fire within the space, while minimizing the aesthetic impact of the components.  In compliance with the United States Secretary of the Interior's Standards, the system is fully "reversible".
